Laundromat

An unconventional Laundromat with a central well, where laundry is done without automatic washing and drying machines like in any other New York City laundromat. It is a space for a routine activity of washing clothes, which re-engages with the human body physically and creates a disconnect with technology by taking one back to the tangible, communal and traditional methods.  Tracks were provided on the ceiling, complimenting the shape of the furniture, to transfer water from the well to the personal washing areas making the process of washing delicate clothes by hand easier. This space almost acts as a disconnect from the fast paced city life and reconnects one to their roots.
